Will changing to a quad core processor improve frame rates in games?

I currently have an intel 4300 oc'd to 2.4 GHz. I also have an 8800 GTS 320 MB. If I just change the proc to quad core, would I see a difference in games like Crysis and Flight Sim X?Will changing to a quad core processor improve frame rates in games? The effect would be very minimal- you might get another couple of fps as other processes would be pushed to the new cores, however most games do not make any real use of more than one core.

Your best bet for increasing frame rates would be to upgrade your video card (Although you've got a pretty beefy configuration already; I'd imagine any modern games should run just fine on it)Will changing to a quad core processor improve frame rates in games? Not much as the software hasn't been written to take use of all four cores but dual core cpu's are better suited for the time being. Anything over 2.6 GHz (dual-core) is gonna get your better frames but a larger gpu is what is gonna make them fly (fps). Will changing to a quad core processor improve frame rates in games?if those games are created to utilize multicore processors.. you will notice an improvement. and i think most existing games are still not optimized to run on multicore procie.
