Will changing speaker wire improve my sound in car?

i have a 2004 if i change my speaker wire from my headunit to all my speakers with new and bigger quality wire will it help i have all aftermarket speakers and aftermarket headunit i figure it wont matter because im not running an amp but opinions welcome. Will changing speaker wire improve my sound in car?yes, if you increase the guage such as 18 gauge wire to 14 gauge wire, your gonna get more power running through the wires which leads to less distortion and such. The lower the gauge number, the less resistance the power is gonna have going through the wires. Will changing speaker wire improve my sound in car?yes. get a 4 gauge amp wiring kit from best buy. Thats what I have and my system sounds the best! Will changing speaker wire improve my sound in car?Changing the speaker wire will probably be one of the most difficult and result in the very least improvement you could imagine. You probably won't be able to tell the difference.

Most OEM wiring will be 14 or perhaps 16 gauge. Except in the very largest vehicles, Individual speaker runs will all be shorter than about 15'. Most wiring is bundled with other wire and run through appropriate openings in the frame, pillars, doors, dash, firewall, etc. And it's properly protected with bushings and grommets wherever there is a possibility of flexing and fraying causing the insulation or the wire itself to fail.

An aftermarket head unit with an RMS output of 25 watts per channel (pretty high - average is 18-20 watts) would need about 1.9A at 12VDC. The voltage drop from a 12V source on a 20 gauge copper wire drawing 2A for a distance of 15' is 0.314 volts, less than 1/3 of a volt, practically negligible. And that's on a 20 gauge wire. The drop on 16 gauge wire is 0.125V, just over 1/10 of a volt.

If you really want to change some wires, the absolute best ones to change would be the %26quot;big three%26quot;.Will changing speaker wire improve my sound in car?PMR's on it.

with only head unit power you can use very small guage wire w/o a perceivable loss in sound quality.

here is a very good and simple speaker wiring calculator that will show you the losses in the wire:

A lot of people choose not to upgrade stock speaker wiring even WITH an external amp, and in a lot of cases that is fine as well.

Not worth the hassle IMO
