Will changing my dogs name confuse him?

I am in the process of adopting a dog from a rescue. His name is Quaker, and I do not really care for that name. He is only 8 weeks old,so since he is so young would it confuse him,or should I just leave it as it is.Will changing my dogs name confuse him?No, you can successfully make the name change. At that age, he'll be adjust to the name fairly easily. Just start using whatever name you choose and keep calling him by that, and reward him with praise or a treat when he responds. A couple days will probably do it. I adopted an 18 yr old Chi and changed her name. Was responding to the new name in a few days and after a week it came natural to her.

If you're looking for a name, you might want to look at the site below. It has links to sites specific to naming your pet .. breed, gender, whatever. Tons of ideas. You'll have a lot of fun checking them out. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?I think at 8 weeks it will be fine to change the name. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?No, you can rename him. He's young enough to get the idea. And he probably just got the name when he entered the rescue group anyway, so I doubt he's attached to it. I'd just start right away and it won't take long. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?No not at all, since he's two months old he won't even kno what quaker is....Will changing my dogs name confuse him?No. He most likely doesn't know his name so its good if you rename him. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?He will not be confused.

Dogs often answer to multiple names anyway.

My dog Scooter also answers to Dog, Doggie, Husband (little girls always want to marry him), Spike and Spikey (my other dog's names), and Let's Go.

Call him anything you like. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?no i think because he is so young it wont hurt at all i changed my dogs name at about a year and he was fine its more the sound and pitch of your voice and your body language that they respond to anywaysWill changing my dogs name confuse him?Change the name if you want.

It won't confuse him. We did the same thing when we adopted my dog (she was about six months) and my dad decided that he didn't wanna call her %26quot;Princess%26quot; so we just started calling her the name we wanted. Just don't go back and forth. Stop using the name %26quot;Quaker%26quot; and don't try and test your dog by calling it Cupcake and then calling out Quaker just to see if he'll still respond to that. Be consistent. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?No, but why do you wanna change? Quaker is such a cute nameWill changing my dogs name confuse him?Well since people usually get puppies at 8 weeks it is normal for them to get a name change at this age.

This is the earliest a person should get a puppy so how do you think all the dogs got their names?

I got one of my dogs when she was 8 months and I changed her name.. And she learned it in a few days and was fineWill changing my dogs name confuse him?I think it's tone of voice more than what you're actually saying. I could call my dog retard and he would answer. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?You can always change their name. Dogs learn quickly and have amazing associative minds, so it's usually no big deal to change it.

And in your case, I doubt the puppy even knows the name %26quot;Quaker%26quot; anyways..

Good luck and have fun with your new baby! Will changing my dogs name confuse him?it wont confuse him but youll have to take a while gettin him use to that nameWill changing my dogs name confuse him?do it, she's young and dogs can get use to anything. even if she was older it'd still be ok. my dog can poop in the toilet. thats right. flush your poop meggie.. good girl! Will changing my dogs name confuse him?NO, he's too young. Go ahead and change his name if you like :)

THANK YOU FOR ADOPTING A RESCUED DOG instead of buying one from a BYB or any pet store. :DWill changing my dogs name confuse him? You're fine.

I've changed names at 9 months and 10 months (both rescues) and they had no problems. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?Yes, but it won't last more than a day or so. Honestly most dogs go more by tone and your body language. I often call my dog %26quot;stupid head%26quot; in a pleasant tone, and he comes right over. Will changing my dogs name confuse him?I don't think so. Call him with his new name regularly until he get used to it. With patience %26amp; consistency it'll eventually work.
