Now if you went with a whole cat back exhaust system or even replacing everything from the engine on back including the exhaust headers you would really increase horsepower and aspiration to your engine and will definently aafect your gas milleage. If you would like better backpressures on the engine freeing up a little horsepower then change your exhaust headers, catalytic convertor, and muffler. Get components used for racing or components that have the label of icrease your horsepower or something like that.
I would do this personally. it will give you a better sound and increase your horsepwoer. if there is any affect on the gas milleage like i said it will only be slightly. and to tell you the truth if you have the money to add a new muffler then you really and truly shouldnt be concerned with it affecting your gas milleage.
