Will changing the priority of a processor Intense application make it run faster?

I know what priorities are in XP but if I change the priority of processor Intense application(i.e. a game like far cry 2) will i be able to run it faster? Will changing the priority of a processor Intense application make it run faster? No. CPU's tend not to affect Game speed, the GPU does. Priority means that if you have two files extracting at the same time, and you set one to have a higher priority via task manager, it slows down the first extractor, and gives the speed to the second that you set the high priority for. This will make the application run faster, but games wont make a difference.
