What will changing my address with USPS do?

When I change my address with the USPS what does it actually do? Does it just forward everything for a month or so? Will it actually change my billing address for my credit card and bank statements or will I still have to change my address with all the doctors, ebay, amazon, the bank, etc.?What will changing my address with USPS do?Yes you still have to let anyone who mails things to you know that your address has changed. The post office just forwards the mail to you so you know who you still need to contact. after your forwarding time is up the mail will then be sent back to the post office and be thrown away. Unless the new tenants keep it! Which can only lead to no good.

I know all this because I have moved over 5 times, and my father has worked at the post office for over 40 years. I do recommend having everything forwarded so if you forget a bill or company it will still get to you and not some stranger who may or may not send it back. What will changing my address with USPS do?If you go to the Post Office and get the change of address package, it will include cards to send to all those you wish to have your new address. Your mail will be forwarded for a period of time but this doe's not insure that you will receive all of it. What will changing my address with USPS do?No, although it will change where they post office delivers the bills, which is not optimal. You need to notify each biller of the change of address, unless it is only temporary. Some will accept a change of address over the phone, but most require written notice, for your protection. If you don't want to go to the expense of sending each and everybody a separate letter of notification, most places you will be sending payments, offer address-change sections on their invoices.
