Will changing my hard drive get rid of all the viruses i have?

so my computer crashed a while back and it hasnt been the same ever since. I have tryed virus software but nothing works so i am wondering if i change my hard drive will that make my computer like brand new? if this is possible how hard is it to swap out the hard drive? or is their something else i could do to make my computer run like its brand new? Will changing my hard drive get rid of all the viruses i have?well yea you can change it but why not just reformat and reinstall the operating system. that'll do it too. Will changing my hard drive get rid of all the viruses i have?Try reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling windows first, no sense in buying a new hard drive if the one you have works. Will changing my hard drive get rid of all the viruses i have?before you buy a new hard drive you can just format your existing one and reinstall the operating system, basically deletes everything and starts over. and thats usually a drastic stepWill changing my hard drive get rid of all the viruses i have?have you tried reinstalling widows yet, if you haven't thats why its not running the same, getting a new hard drive will be the same as reinstalling windows, and no its not hard, its very easy. Will changing my hard drive get rid of all the viruses i have?I have listed the most obvious, some of which you may have already tried but for completeness they are mentioned here.

First of all make sure you do not have any malware in the form of viruses or spyware. Run your anti virus and anti spyware programs in order to clear out any beasts. Spyware is becoming more and more of a problem because some spyware is extremely difficult to identify and even more difficult to remove.

If you do not have any protection both of these are exceptional and available for free:

Anti spyware I suggest:

Anti virus I suggest:

Remove junk %26amp; temporary Internet files that may be cluttering your system by running Ccleaner ?free for download from:

http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/

You may have too many programs kicking off at start up. These two free downloads allow you to take control what applications run at start up:

Your hard disk may be getting full. You need at least 15% of free space for it to operate efficiently. Go to Control Panel %26gt; Add/Remove Programs %26amp; remove any applications you no longer use. How about removing all those pictures %26amp; music that is filling up your hard drive?

Your hard disk(s) may be fragmented. Windows has a built in defragmentation program but you can download a quicker third party program for free:

Your registry may be cluttered or corrupt. Ccleaner mentioned above also has a registry cleaner but how about downloading another very good free registry cleaner:

http://www.eusing.com

How about overheating? Clean all the vents on your computer with an air duster (can of compressed air). If a laptop, operate it on a hard surface so that air can flow freely around it. For a desktop, open it up and clean inside with the air duster.

Finally, after you have done all the above may need to upgrade your RAM. Normally Windows XP is quite happy with 1GB but for Windows Vista I suggest upgrading to 2GB to get equivalent speed and efficiency. In order that you get the right type of RAM for your system do a free scan at Crucial to determine your RAM.

Good luck with your quest and I hope these suggestions improve your system.

You should reinstall your operating system, which, in turn, will ask you if you want to format your drives. This will give you a %26quot;new%26quot; harddrive without needing to buy one, since essentially what you did is exactly the same thing with the new one that you were going to buy, but without purchasing a new harddrive.

Reinstalling your operating system is the best way to go, but make sure you back up all your data to drives that won't get formatted. If you aren't sure where the viruses are, perhaps it's a good idea to format all volumes.

I hope this helps,
