Will changing the engine and transmission help the car last longer?

Hello, I know that the engine and transmission are the heart and soul of the car, so will changing them cause the car to last longer.

I like older cars, like form the 80's and 70's, so if a car has 150,000 miles and someone puts in and engine and transmission with less miles, should the car last a really long time.

If I get a Firebird or a Camaro from the 70's with many miles, and swap the engines and transmissions, could the car last a really long time? Will changing the engine and transmission help the car last longer?Yes, Yes if they are new! Will changing the engine and transmission help the car last longer?it will last as long as the engine/trans hold together.

you can put in a brand new transmission and crate motor and flog the hell out of it and still spin a bearing in 10 miles.

or you can do regular maintainence on the older engine/transmission and have it last 1,000,000 miles. I've seen several of both types.

had a customer come in with a 600k volvo on the original engine/trans with all service records...

I've seen a 93 civic that was driven 1000 miles every 2 days for 6 years turn 1million miles on original drivetrain...guy only had to replace cv joints 6 times, 4 water pumps, 11 timing belts...etc, etc.

I've seen people buy a brand new car and never change the oil or even add oil and lock it up in 40k miles.

do maintainence and cars can last forever. Will changing the engine and transmission help the car last longer? In a car from the 70's or 80's you'll probably be dealing with rust on the body, so that is always a consideration. Also the suspension and brakes will probably need work. The interior will most likely need replaced as well. However if you put a new engine and trans in it and all the other stuff I mentioned is ok, then yes, it will last a really long time. Will changing the engine and transmission help the car last longer?you have to be carful with that it will last but u have to check the front end out good the rearend any bearings and seals the whole frame needs to be checked first then yes ur good to goWill changing the engine and transmission help the car last longer?it might help it to run better but what about the body ? is it in good shape ?
