Will changing a 5KW heat strip to a 10KW make any difference?

I live in the Northeast and my heat pump cannot generate any heat when it is below 30... I have to completely rely on the backup heat (5kw heat strip), which does not generate enough heat and keeps running ALL the time. My electric bill was way high this month. I wonder if I change it to 10kw will ease the situation. Will changing a 5KW heat strip to a 10KW make any difference?Heat pumps in the colder climates, as you now know, are completely useless. Consult a HVAC service on upgrading your system. But most likely your costs will not change much, but the heat output from your system would be improved, so you would at least get some comfort out of the costs. Will changing a 5KW heat strip to a 10KW make any difference?likely you will have to change the whole %26quot;heat package%26quot; to a 10 kw with controls, etc,,not that hard for an hvac tech,,,not a typical d-i-y thing for a homeowner,,as was already stated...it will take #6 COPPER wire and a 60 a breaker to handle the the 10 kw package.. another alternative is an oil fired water heater with a hot water coil in the supply duct...not cheap but works well from what i hear....i'm thinking you might be in a small condo though, based on only having 5kw of aux heat...if in a condo,,youre stuck with the heat pump unfortunately...........danWill changing a 5KW heat strip to a 10KW make any difference?check the amps on breaker to heat stripif its 60 and wire going to it is awg6 then you can add another heat strip then check the manufacture for another heat stip otherwize your going to add a breaker and wire from panel boxWill changing a 5KW heat strip to a 10KW make any difference? You would have to make sure your wiring and fuses are suitable or this could be a serious fire hazard.
