Will changing the ground blow an amp? i did not diconnect the power before changing the ground?

I had full bass but when i changed the ground i had to turn the bass all the way up to even get decent bass out of it. Even when i did the bass would hit to hard and i would have to turn it down on the gain.. any ideas would be greatWill changing the ground blow an amp? i did not diconnect the power before changing the ground?Sounds like you've a poor ground , try running a test wire as a ground off the negative battery post .
